Summer Fun
We had a fabulous, fun, and festive summer!!! The
beginning of the summer (right after we got married) before Josh and Kait went to NC for the summer we took the kids up to Camp Verde for the day to Out of Africa. We went on the safari and got to see lots of fun animals!!! All the kids (except Brody) even got to feed a tiger!!! It was lots of fun!!! The beginning of July we rented an RV and went on the McDowell reunion campout!! It was SOOOOOOOOOO nice having the RV!! Especially with little ones!! Lauren and Zoe were able to go with us!! It was great having them!! We all had a lot of fun!! July 15th, Chloe turned 4 years old!!! We had a Hannah Monata birthday party for her. Some of her cousins and friends
from church came and played in the water and enjoyed a pinata-- all the while rocking out to Hannah Montana!! Chloe had a GREAT day!!! The end of July we embarked on a grand adventure of driving to Washington with 6 of our 7 children -Lauren had massage therapy school that she couldn't miss!! :( We left on a Thursday afternoon as soon as we picked Josh and Kaitlyn up from the airport- and we drove all night to SLC where we stayed a couple days with my parents who are serving a mission in the Family History Center up in Salt Lake City. Good times-- we had 11 people crammed
into a 500 sq ft. apartment!!! Saturday we got up early and went to the Snowbird ski resort and played there all day. There was a zip line, an alpine slide (which was the kids favorite), a peruvian chair lift that took us to the top of the mountain. The weather was beautiful that day!! The kids also enjoyed a rock climbing wall and a bungee trampoline. Josh almost did a triple back flip!!! We left Sunday afternoon from SLC and drove to Butte, Montana. Monday we drove the rest of the way to Spokane, Washington where we stayed with Lanny's sister Lynn. It was such a huge blessing to have Zoe traveling
with us!!! She
helped out a lot with all the kids!!! We all really enjoyed staying at Lynn's house!! Erik and Josh got along great-- and Brody loved being their
little tag along!! The little girls loved playing with Natalie-- she was a great big cousin to them!!! It was GREAT to see Lanny's family!! His parents drove over from the Seattle area, as well as his sister Laura and her daughter Shannon. Laura and Shannon only were able to stay a day (Shannon got her tonsils removed early the next day). But.... they were able to go to Silverwood theme park with us!!! It was SO much fun!!! Tatum and Kaitlyn rode their first roller coaster ride that day!!! No loops, just
lots of ups and downs, at the end of the ride we turned around and Kaitlyn was screaming bloody murder!!! She was not a fan at all!!! Tatum had a perinoid look on her face and once she realized that she was alive and her stomach had not flown out of her mouth..... she smiled and started laughing and decided that she liked it. We all ended up going on another one.... even Kaitlyn!!!!! Our main reason for our grand adventure however was to see Lanny's grandmother, Marge. She is in an assisted living home in Cour d' Alene. It is SUCH a nice place. They have a beautiful garden there and a pond with fish and turtles in it.
There are also parrots and guinea pigs! The kids really enjoyed that. Every Wedensday they have a family BBQ where family members can come eat, visit, and enjoy the atmosphere!!! After the BBQ we went to the beautiful Cour d' Alene Lake!!! The water was FREEEEZING but the kids didn't seem to mind too much!! They had a great time exploring on the beach and feeding the seagulls!!! We lost Zoe for the trip home :( She flew over to Tacoma to attend EFY the following week!! We all greatly missed her!!! All in all it was a WONDERFUL trip!!! For as much as
they were in the car... all the kids did great!!! We all survived!!! That is the important thing!!!! Once we got back- Josh and Tatum started school within a couple of days. Kaitlyn was able to stay another week with us before she had to go back to North Carolina which was nice. Then it was back to work as usual for Lanny and Jeana!!! It was a very memorable summer hopefully one the kids will remember and cherish for years to come!!!
